Hi everybody!
I have read at Cisco Products that AIR-LAP521G-E-K9 is out of order and its replacement is AIR-LAP1131G-E-K9.
I have a network already functioning with four AIR-LAP521G-E-K9 and one AIR-WLC526-K9 wireless controller.
Question is... "Is AIR-LAP1131G-E-K9 compatible with AIR-WLC526-K9?"... and in that case what version should wireless controller have?
Thanks for reading!

It's not compatible.
For the 1130, the WLC should be the 2100, 4400, WiSM or the 5508.

Sorry for asking again, but, are you completely sure about this?
I say so because my Cisco Provider is afirming this compatibility between these two devices.
The problem is that a client of us has already bought this Access Point and it does not "talk" with the wireless controller.
Our provider says if we buy the service contract we could download the last software for the wireless controller and make it function.
To be honest, I have many doubts about it.
What can I do?
Thanks!

These release notes describe open and resolved caveats for release 7.0.98.0 for Cisco 2100, 4400, and 5500 Series Wireless LAN Controllers; Cisco Wireless Services Modules (WiSMs); Cisco Wireless LAN Controller Network Modules; Catalyst 3750G Integrated Wireless LAN Controller Switches; Cisco 3201 Wireless Mobile Interface Cards (WMICs); Cisco Aironet 1100, 1130, 1200, 1230AG, 1240, 1250, 1300, AP3500, AP1260, AP 1040, and AP801 Series Lightweight Access Points; Cisco Aironet 1130AG, 1240AG, 1522, and 1524 Mesh Access Points, which comprise part of the Cisco Unified Wireless Network (UWN) Solution.
Maybe I am wrong but push this info back to your authorized Cisco reseller. I'm sure the WLC 526 will only support the AP520.02-02-2011 07:04 AM
Hi Sebastián,
Leo is most correct here (+5 Leo )
Sadly, the WLC 526 only supports the LAP 521. No other AP Models (like the 1131) can be used in this solution. And vice versa the 521 will not work with other WLC Models like the 2106.
Q. Which access point products are included in the Cisco Mobility Express Solution?
A. Two Cisco 500 Series Wireless Express Access Point products are in the Cisco Mobility Express Solution; their part numbers follow:
AIR-AP521G-x-K9 (standalone access point)
AIR-LAP521G-x-K9 (controller-based access point)
The hardware for these products is the same. The products have different software, but the access points can be converted from standalone mode to the controller-based mode with a simple software upgrade.
Note The WLC526 controller supports only controller-based LAP521 access points. It does not support Cisco Aironet lightweight access points, such as the 1000, 1130, 1200, 1240, 1250, 1300, 1500, or 1520 series access points.

Maybe they don't know much about Cisco wireless portfolio (not their forte). That's why you have us here.02-02-2011 01:38 PM

This is a question related.
I have a customer that is trying to use a 1142N with this controllr, he says that their end devices do not receive IP addresses, however they see the SSID.
If supossed that this WLC only works with the 521 APs how it can be broadcasting the SSID?

I would like to see a screen shot of the AP has joined or an output from the console of the ap booting up.

Hi Scott,
Actually the customer provided incorrect information, he is not using a 526 WLC, he is using a 5508 with 1142N APs. Thanks.

That should work then. I would ask for the output of the console when the AP has been booted up to see whats going on.
Thanks,
Scott

Can see the SSID but not getting an IP address? Authentication comes before IP Address. So is/are the client(s) successfully authenticated or not?
