Hi guys,
Is it necessary to config the Cisco Wireless LAN Controller 4400 in LWAPP Layer 3 Mode to set up AP 1000 series? According to the documentation, the APs should be connected to the controller in LAN and the controller should be in layer 3 to download the OS to APs. After that, disconnect the access point and take
it to its final destination and install it. But when I missed this step, I configured the controller directly in layer2 mode and brought the APs up. Everything works fine. Is it necessary? Is it necessary just for different version of OS?
Thanks

For the 1000 series AP's it is not necessary to be in layer 3 mode. Layer 3 mode is to support the 1130/1230/1242 cisco AP's that either come LAP or can be converted.
