We purchased a C9115AXE-EWC-E following failure of a Ap1852E. The AP1852E was credited under and RMA and the C9115AXE was the recommended replacement.
the original installation was 3 in total of the AP1852E so we were trying to join the new C9115AXE to the two AP1852's (one of which is the WLC).
the new device gets an IP address but does not seem to join to the WLC and the WLC cannot 'see' the new device. Therefore at the moment its an expensive brick with a blinking light.
any clues on how to complete the join would be appreciated. The devices are all connected via a Cisco switch and the other two devices are still functioning.

HAve you checked the compatibility matrix for an AireOS-based controlelr to support C9120?
Assuming you are using only long-term versions, and following TAC recommended releases, you need the AP1815 to be running any AireOS version 8.10, so the recommendation is to upgrade to 8.10.171 or 8.10.182.
But as previously said in another community post, it is not recommended for you to mix APs from different Wi-Fi generations to a void any weird issue. If at this time you're not going to invest in additional replacements, I recommend you to disable 802.11ax support in all the config, either Global and specific into the WLAN profiles.

Additionally, you need to point the ME controller to the TFTP server and folder where all the images are in order to allow new AP model to download the code they need after joining.

HI - many thanks for the reply unfortunately this is all very alien to me as it was installed by a 3rd party company who now no longer want to provide assistance. it is not my area of expertise at all. I have concerns around upgrading the OS on the existing devices for any risk of them failing to broadcast Wifi after the event is there a risk on that? Also can you explain point the ME controller what is the ME controller? Ideally we re hoping to find a third party company to assist but cannot get anyone to engage or even return calls to discuss i am sure its a quick task for someone with the right skills

You be in Scrooge's prime time. ME was the original term for EWC, Embedded Wireless Controller. Your eventual 3rd party support will probably need to configure the new 9115AXE in EWC mode and it will understand the AirOS 1852's. I don't think the EWC image for the 1852 is upto 8.10.x and IOSxe language is very different.
Merry Christmas
