LAP1142N not saving config

Greetings:

I have a wireless deployment using a 5508 controller and 90+ LAP1142N lightweight access points.

Everything is going relatively well, except I have about 3 that do not keep their config (hostname and AP group) past a reboot of the access point.

When they do come up after a reboot, they go back to the default hostname of the mac address and are placed in the default-group AP group.

They seem to work fine otherwise.

Any suggestions of what to look at?

Regards

KRE

As long as the APs are in the run state, you should be able to configure the AP.  If the AP is in the downloading state, andy changes you make will not be kept.  So if your ap's are not keeping the settings when the AP is in the run state, then maybe factory default the AP when associated to the WLC and try again.  I have not seen that especially after the AP is in the run state.

Thanks,

Scott

I had one like that not too long ago.

I went into the AP CLI and blew away the config "clear capwap private" and reboot.  Came good after that.

Thanks for the replies.

The AP's in question are well past the downloading phase.

I've gone in thru the CLI and did "clear capwap private" then setup - boot - OK - pulled plug - and not OK

So I deleted the private-multiple-fs, config.txt event.log and env._vars - boot OK - pulled plug - and not OK

then I've deleted everything above plus the c1140-k9w8-mx.124-21a.JHB1 directory but left c1140-rcvk9w8-mx and that casued the AP to redownload from the controller.  I then setup - boot OK - pulled plug - and it kept!!!

I am going to try to duplicate my success this morning with the other ones.

When all fails, that's the only way. Even deleting the rcv and putting a new one helps. Just depends on how comfortable you are with deleting the files in flash.
