I have a 2500 WLC and a LAP1522 AP operating as the RAP. I loaded the LAP software onto a LAP1242. I added the LAP1242 MAC address to the WLC list. With the ethernet connected the LAP1242 registers with the WLC, broadcasts the SSID and all works well. As soon as I disconnect the ethernet cable, the the LAP1242 no longer registers with the WLC. I assume this means it is not backhauling to the 1522 RAP over the radio.
Is there some radio setting I may have missed? I have another 1522 operating as a MAP. I tried to match its settings on the 1242.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

As an added piece of information, I have a second LAP1242. I have it connected to ethernet. I assigned it the role of ROOT AP. The other LAP1242 not on ethernet, finds this ROOT AP and associates with it. So it's just a radio issue between the 1522 and 1242. Maybe it's a range issue. The 1522 and 1242 are about 300 feet apart with line of sight.

I think I solved the problem. The 1522 acting as the RAP had the backhaul channel set to 165. I noticed the 1242 LAPs only had the option to be set up to a max channel of 161.
After I changed the 1522 RAP to channel 157 the 1242 LAPs associated with it.
