Leaving Service Area - 7925G

Hello,

My boss came to me today asking me why one of the phones he was using went into "Leaving Service Area".  He basically had to reboot the phone.

Our infrastructure consists of over 1100 AP's.  These AP's are spread over 3 WLC 5508's running 7.0.220.0. We are running the latest code on the 7925G's. This is the first time I've seen this.  Our WLAN only allows "A" radio.  We have basically followed the 7925G deployment guide.

The only thing I haven't done is disabled 36, 48, 54 Mbps data rates because we have mobile carts running on A/G radios.

Any ideas why a phone would do this when there is adequate coverage.

Thank You

Sounds like CSCtk58591

792x phone may not reconnect when invalid 5 GHz beacon received
Symptom:
792x phone may not reconnect when invalid 5 GHz beacon received.

At the time when the 792x phone is in the bad state, in Settings >
Model Information, the phone's MAC address shows as blank.

Conditions:
792x phone going out of range then comes back in range when set to scan 5 GHz.

Workaround:
Power cycle the phone.
Use 802.11b/g only mode.

Check to see if the MAC address is blank under Settings > Model Information.

If so then should be CSCtk58591.

We do have an ES available with this fix.

Simply open a TAC case with a screenshot showing the blank MAC address then the ES can be provided to you.

yep you are hitting that bug wich Darren provided. Open up a tac case and ask for the 1.4.2ES.1 image which has the fix for it.
