Licensing for existing 2802 Access Points Migrating to 9800 Controller

We have 2 5520's in HA that have 300 2802I's connected. We will be upgrading the controllers to 9800-40 (or 9800-L with perf license, still haven't decided yet). Is there also a licensing component that we need to purchase for the existing 2802I's so that they will be compliant on the 9800's? Do I need to also purchase with the controller 300 AIR-DNA-Essentials (or Advantage, although we do not currently have DNA Center) for these AP's?

From what I know and talking to my Cisco folks, when you migrate from AireOS to the 9800's, if the ap's you have were not purchased with DNA-E or DNA-A, then you will have to purchased them separately.  Even if you don't have DNA Center, you need to look at the Network Advantage which is the perpetual items you get when you purchase DNA-A or Network Essentials when you purchase DNA-E.  So in the end, you need to choose one of those that fit your needs as far as perpetual.  Get the 3yr which is the lowest amount and then after the 3yr's, if you still don't have DNAc, then let that expire and you end up with the perpetual items.

Take a look at this matrix.  The "network" is the perpetual items that matches the DNA-E or DNA-A section.
