Linksys WUSB54G v4 associates but no internet access

I have had a (small) wireless network running in my house for several years but increasingly have the problem that one desktop which connects via a Linksys WUSB54G v4 wireless adapter will connect (associate) with the router but have no internet access. I have another desktop and 2 laptops that will all be connected with internet when the desktop with the Linksys adapter has no internet. The desktop in question is running Windows XP service pack 3. I read several Knowledgebase articles. One led me to run  IPCONFIG/ALL where I can see the Autoconfiguration Enabled is set to Yes but the IP address is all 0's, while the DHCP and DNS Servers show 192.168.1.1.  Another article suggested updating driver's, but it appears that the drivers have not been updated since 2005.  Does anyone have thoughts on what I can do? Would replacing the adapter likely help?

Jim,

Thanks for posting your question. This forum is more geared toward Cisco enterprise wireless. I think you’ll have better luck in the Cisco Home community forum for wireless adapters. Try reposting your question here:

And FWIW, yes, definitely download and install a newer adapter driver (from here: http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/wireless/lbc/wusb54g/download). Wireless technology is under constant revision and improvement and we typically see much better results when clients are running newer drivers. Even if the upgrade doesn’t fix your IP addressing issue, your wireless adapter is likely to perform and behave much better once it is fixed.
