Losing the CDP features in WLC upgrade

Hi ALL,

We recently have a consultant coming and upgrade our WLC 5508 to the new version 8.0.133.0.

ALL good until we recently need to check where an AP connected to what switch by goto CDP under Monitor and the field is empty.

is there a settings somewhere we can turn on ? and how do we get the CDP back ? as it is a good feature to find out where APs connect to

what switch ?

Any advice are much appreciated.

Hi,

Upgrade to one of these realease:

Known Fixed Releases:     

8.0(132.108)
8.1(131.20)
8.2(1.87)
8.2(100.0) --> Try this
8.2(101.0)

But make sure that your AP is compatible with these versions.

Check here the compatibility matrix:

Hi,

Please check if  CDP is enabled on AP or not.

Wireless > Access Points > All APs , click on specific AP then under Interfaces TAB you will see CDP state of Ethernet Interface, check that box.

wait for 1-2 minutes then you will see a CDP entry under monitor tab for that specific AP.

Just checked and they all set up correctly ie the CDP state of Ethernet interface is check.

but can not see it under Monitor.

What about the CDP state in Global Configuration of all APs.It must be enable.

Wireless > Access Points > Global Configuration

Hello Sandeep, do you know if this CDP issue extends to the WLC to switch connection also?

We have just upgraded a 5508 to 8.0.133.0 ( no AP's connected as yet) and can no longer see the WLC from the switch (WS-C6513 Software, Version NmpSW: 8.3(7)).

We can however see the switch from the WLC

Hi You mus be correct because the Cisco Consultant mentioned there is some bugs

with this new version but we have to deploy it anyhow.
