Have you read through and watched these?
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/9800/17-9/config-guide/b_wl_17_9_cg/m_mesh_ewlc.html

Thanks for your attention and help @Rich R .

But maybe I didn't explain the scenario correctly: the Mesh network is configured and operating.

The point is that some APs do not appear online in the WLC, but appear as Neighbors in online APs (with the State column, in the Mesh - Neighbor tab in the online APs detail, showing the statuses "UPDATED NEIGH ALLOC", "ALLOC", etc. ).

What I'm trying to understand is the meaning of these statuses, to put the APs online in the WLC (and I'm not finding documentation about it).

Thanks again for your attention, but I would appreciate if you have any tips on where to find documentation on this subject.

                             >.... if you have any tips
- I would advise to investigate some time and try out the various command mention in :
             https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/9800/config-guide/b_wl_16_10_cg/mesh-access-points.html#verify-mesh-config
                                                      to get additional insights

Always useful is to review the (global) controller configuration with the CLI Command show tech wireless
and feed the output from that into : Wireless Config Analyzer

  - Also go for 17.9.5 (advisory software version)

We haven't done any mesh on 9800 yet ourselves so I can't advise from experience on this one.
If you can't find the answers in the documentation then next step is a TAC case.
You can also ask TAC to raise a documentation bug for things which are missing from the documentation.
