Mobility Express- Cisco AP 2800

Dears,

I need your help in checking an issue with 2800 AP in mobility express.

I have a Master 2800 AP and want to Join another 2800 AP to this Master AP, noting that this new AP is running the mobility express image not capwap, is this possible or i should convert it?

Hi Muhannad,

I think you can do either. If two ME APs are in the same subnet then they will go through a master election process and, once determined, the other AP will join it as a subordinate.

I assume if you configure it as CAPWAP then that removes the possibility of it becoming the master / an ME WLC and it will join the first AP as a normal AP.

I have excactly the same situation. I have a small existing deployment with a 2800i - ME - as a Master AP and a 2700i as a CAPWAP.

Now to extend the Wireless Network I want to add a second 2800i - ME - so that we have a second Master AP if the first fails.

But if I want to add the second Mobility Expreess AP my new AP is running in a bootloop:

I am using the Software Version 8.5.105.0. Did you have similar experience? What Software Version are you using?

Dear Olivar,

I have used version 8-5-120-0, the first controller was up and running when i have joined the second ME to the network, it was able to detect the primary ME and joined as subordinate.
