Hi,
I am trying to upgrade an MSE from version 6 to 7.0.201.204. I am able to copy across all the files and have tried using WCS and FTP for the CISCO-MSE-L-K9-7-0-201-0-64bit.bin file but the installation procedure always fails. Is anyone else haveing the same issue?
I will dowload all the images again tonight. Is there a way to delete the images from the /opt/installers/ directory?
Also the upgrade procedure in the 7.0.201.204 is pretty bad, there is no detail in any of the steps. Has anyone found a better procedure? (keeping in mind this release is different to older ones)
Here is output from the upgrade -
[root@SDC-MSE-01 installers]# dir
CISCO-MSE-L-K9-7-0-201-0-64bit.bin database_installer_part3_4.zip
database_installer_part1_4.zip database_installer_part4_4.zip
database_installer_part2_4.zip
[root@SDC-MSE-01 ~]# cd /opt/installers/
[root@SDC-MSE-01 installers]# chmod 755 CISCO-MSE-L-K9-7-0-201-0-64bit.bin
[root@SDC-MSE-01 installers]# /etc/init.d/msed stop

[UPDATED May 13, 2011 at 12:30 p.m. EDT: Thanks, Matthew Sarantakos!]
To remove (OPTIONAL) the files that you had transferred over previously, you can run the command
rm -rf
There are five files as part of the software upgrade to the MSE 7.0.201.204 release bundle:
1) CISCO-MSE-L-K9-7-0-201-204-64bit.bin.gz
2) database_installer_part1_4.zip
3) database_installer_part2_4.zip
4) database_installer_part3_4.zip
5) database_installer_part4_4.zip
These files are available at
http://tools.cisco.com/squish/9AD29
Transfer these five files *MANUALLY* via FTP to the MSE using these steps as reference:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/mse/3310/quick/guide/MSE10_c5.html#wp1053852
Once you've downloaded and transferred the code over to the MSE, rename the "database_installer" files by issuing the commands:
cd /opt/installers
cp database_installer_part1_4.zip database_installer_part1of4.zip
cp database_installer_part2_4.zip database_installer_part2of4.zip
cp database_installer_part3_4.zip database_installer_part3of4.zip
cp database_installer_part4_4.zip database_installer_part4of4.zip
(FYI: The underscore symbol is replaced with "of" in the file names.)
Then run the following TEN commands prior to the installation of this new code:
chown root:root CISCO-MSE-L-K9-7-0-201-204-64bit.bin.gz
chown root:root database_installer_part1of4.zip
chown root:root database_installer_part2of4.zip
chown root:root database_installer_part3of4.zip
chown root:root database_installer_part4of4.zip
chmod 755 CISCO-MSE-L-K9-7-0-201-204-64bit.bin.gz
chmod 755 database_installer_part1of4.zip
chmod 755 database_installer_part2of4.zip
chmod 755 database_installer_part3of4.zip
chmod 755 database_installer_part4of4.zip
When you run the command "ls -al /opt/installers" you should see "root" being the owner of all five files. Then please proceed as follows:
/etc/init.d/msed stop
gunzip CISCO-MSE-L-K9-7-0-201-204-64bit.bin.gz
/opt/installers/CISCO-MSE-L-K9-7-0-201-204-64bit.bin
... ... ...
... ... ...
/etc/init.d/msed start
Let me know how it goes.

All:
I had the same issue as the original post. But to correct my problem I had to do the following....
After downloading the Files from Cisco.
database_installer_part1_4.zip
database_installer_part2_4,zip
database_installer_part3_4.zip
database_installer_part4_4.zip
These files needed to be renamed before uploading themm to the MSE.
database_installer_part1of4.zip
database_installer_part2of4.zip
database_installer_part3of4.zip
database_installer_part4of4.zip
After doing this the Install script executed correctly.

Matthew,
Thanks much! I'll correct the instructions in my previous post too.

Ok. I just noticed that the upgrade instruction listed the files with the "of" instead of the underscore that you get when downloaded.
Thanks.

Ok fixed.
There were two issues-
- The original 7.0.201.0 image I tried to upgrade with. Fix use the newly posted 7.0.201.214 image.
- Rename the ZIP files as they are named incorreclty when you download them. There should be an "of" in the name.

Hi,
I have a question about the MSE version 7.
Ive installed it but whenever i try to start up the MSE Platform, it shows me that it is starting and its waiting to check the status. It shows me that line like 10 times and then it finally says there was an error with the status checkup.
Additionally, how can i see the configuration of the server?
i write getserverinfo but it doesnt show me the configuration i made!
please i would appriciate any help
