Hello,
I have a Pint to Point bridge set-up with two cisco AP's, and I am having trouble passing multicast/broadcast traffic through it.
Any one any suggestions?
Thanks

AP's are layer two devices, PIM is enabled at L3.

can you post the configs of the devices?

What are your phy rates set at ? Multicast is sent over the highest mandatory rate. If your bridge phy is lower than mandatory rate multicast would not tx ..
Am I off base on my comment Steve ?

aIOS uses the lowest configured mandatory rate, WLC uses the highest configured to send multicast.
If you have the 'base' config 1M would be a mandatory rate IIRC and multicast should flow.
of course if you are going across L3 boundaries, you need to make sure you PIM enable the L3 interfaces

The AP's are barely 25 feet apart with good line of sight. So I doubt that the the mandatory rate is the problem.
However I will try this as the last option.
Thank you

Try this, let's disable the port-protected under the radio interfaces.

Hello Ed,
As per your query i can suggest you the following solution-
To set a Point-2-Point bridge with two AP's and passing multicast/broadcast traffic throuh it yo can use WLC with highest configured multicast send rate. Also make sure that you have enabled PIM as you are going to communicate through layer 3 network. Use an IOS with lowest configured mandatory rate.
Hope this will help you.
05-22-2013 02:35 PM
I don't use a WLC, however I have been looking for the command to configure the multicast rate per second..
Can anyone show me the command for this?
Also how do I enable PIM on a Autonomous AP?
Lastly I will try lowering the mandatory rate.
05-22-2013 02:39 PM
AP's are layer two devices, PIM is enabled at L3.

Steve

OK. So I dont need PIM.
What is the command the command to increase the multicast rate per second??
Edit: Ok... So I had tried "no igmp port snooping", on the radio interfaced... However I had to do it on the trunked switchport....
Works now....
Thanks to everyone.
Really appreciate all you help.
