Multiple SSID with meshed network

Is it possible to have multiple SSID on a repeater stand-alone AP in a meshed network? There will be no wireless controller on the network.

Yes, you can have multiple SSID on a repeater. You just need to have one SSID configures as infrastructure and the rest built as normal with their bridge groups on the wireless interfaces.

Thank you very much!

Sorry but I'm new on "wireless" and I need to set up this meshed network so I have one more question for you. Reading about " When do you use an AP as a repeater?", I found this: "Use repeaters when most, if not all, client devices that associate with the repeaters are Cisco Aironet clients. Non-Cisco client devices sometimes have difficulty communicating with repeater APs." What does it mean? I thought that every Laptop/Phone/Mobile devices can connect with an Aironet AP without problems. Is there some kind of software that needs to be installed on these devices in order to connect with the APs?

no, you shouldn't need to add anything to the client. I think that is referencing that there can be extra IE (information elements) that non-cisco devices may not like.

that being said, I've used repeaters with non-Cisco devices and not had any issues.

You should know that by adding each ap in repeater mode you cut throughput in half. If you don't have high bandwidth needs it shouldn't be an issue.

Thank you, yes, I know that, but is there any solution except the repeater APs in a building where there are no wires, except the one for the root AP? I was thinking that with three stand-alone 700 Aironet APs I could solve the problem, one as root and two non-root. There will be few users so I hope the bandwidth will not be a problem. I hope I can cover the entire area...I can't find the range in meters these APs can cover.

Can you share more about what are you trying to cover and how many users?

Yes, there are no more than 15 users but the area I have to cover is about 700 square meters.

You should be fine.

Thank you so much, so I wil buy three AIR-SAP702I-x-K9 and then I will configure them for the meshed network.
