Hii

i am try to convert AIR-AP1041N-E-K9 autonomous to Lightweight (Controller Base). i was successfully upgraded but it can not find the WLC IP.

I don't know why it happen. i have also check the switch and found it is fine and DHCP is enable.

i have also create a DHCP pool in my WLC.

But still it can find any IP address via WLC.

It shows the following error:

*Dec 17 11:27:49.827: %CAPWAP-3-DHCP_RENEW: Could not discover WLC. Either IP address is not assigned or assigned IP is wrong. Renewing DHCP IP.

Please check the attachments.

HI Yasiba,

AP Model: AIR-AP1041N-E-K9: Its for europe domain

WLC configured with : US country code

its mismatch of the country code.

Option:

1. Either use any Europe country on wlc to join this AP

2. Or Buy another AP with -A- domain, example: AIR-AP1041N-A-K9

Hi,

Here are the commands:

1. first you need to disable radios

(WLC) >config 802.11a disable network
(WLC) >config 802.11b disable network

2. Then use this command to configure multiple country code on LC:

(WLC) >config country US,DE,.....

3. And then enable both radios again:

(WLC) >config 802.11a enable network
(WLC) >config 802.11b enable network

More info on my post: https://rscciew.wordpress.com/2014/02/08/country-code-on-wlc/

Info:Running multiple country codes in a single WLC is not a good idea. by doing this, the only common channels will be allowed. Power will also be curtailed to the most common one. One thing to remember when running multiple country codes is that you always run the lowest common setting. You could improve things by splitting the APs up by country and only run specific countries on certain controllers.

You can try statically configure IP on your AP (via console) & see if that helps.

http://mrncciew.com/2013/03/17/ap-registration/

Below is sample CLI commands required, change IP details according to your scheme.

capwap ap ip address 10.10.113.5 255.255.255.0
capwap ap ip default-gateway 10.10.113.1
capwap ap controller ip address 10.10.111.10

Hello,

Can anyone help me to get download the latest version of AIR-AP1041N-E-K9  Lightweight IOS for free.

Because from Cisco website it requires a service contract, which i have none.

Thank you

Can anyone help me to get download the latest version of AIR-AP1041N-E-K9  Lightweight IOS for free.

Lightweight IOS, the RCV, does NOT require a valid Service Contract to download.  Contact Cisco TAC and they'll publish the file.

WLC & AP are connected with same switch & under the same Vlan (Vlan 30).

From Ap it can ping to WLC. From switch AP and WLC can be pingable.

But the AP can not registered with WLC. I don't know where's  the problem.

Please check the attachments.

Post the complete output to the following commands:

1.  WLC:  sh sysinfo;

2.  WLC:  sh time; and

3.  AP:  sh version

Hey Leo,

HI Sandeep,

You are actually right. Now i have found the problem

it was actually the Country code problem with WLC and AP.

Here's the solution link.

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/7-4/configuration/guides/consolidated/b_cg74_CONSOLIDATED/b_cg74_CONSOLIDATED_chapter_01110111.html

Now it works perfectly.

I have one question, if i have several types of AP models, then how can i  add more country code on WLC??

Can you please give me the CLI command on how to add more country code on WLC??

Hi,

Here are the commands:

1. first you need to disable radios

(WLC) >config 802.11a disable network
(WLC) >config 802.11b disable network

2. Then use this command to configure multiple country code on LC:

(WLC) >config country US,DE,.....

3. And then enable both radios again:

(WLC) >config 802.11a enable network
(WLC) >config 802.11b enable network

More info on my post: https://rscciew.wordpress.com/2014/02/08/country-code-on-wlc/
