Need to make sure 2 devices are in the same VLAN on the same SSID

Hello,

I have a WLC 5520 configured with AP3802s.  For one particular SSID, I have an interface group configured with 2 different subnets and VLANs.  I have 2 devices that are on the SSID and they need to communicate but they keep getting put into different VLANs.  Is there any method to ensure that they get put into the same VLAN each time they connect?

Thank you.

That is normal, since they are grouped VLAN, the allocation happens automatically from DHCP.

Are you looking for these PC to connect P2P to each other?

How to Ask The Cisco Community for Help

Yes - I need the 2 devices to connect reliably.  One is a printer, the other a tablet.  I need to have the printer available.

Only way to ensure same VLAN is to not use an interface group and drop the clients direct to an interface for the SSID.

Other option is if you have RADIUS server is to return the interface for those devices (requires AAA override)

Unfortunately, none of these options are an option for us.  The environment is previously designed and well-seasoned.  There is no appetite for large-scale change.

After I posted this question, I found out that the printer does have a hardware ethernet port so I just cabled it to a switch and tagged that port into the VLAN I wanted.

Thanks everyone!

Doug.
