Hi there,
Thanks for reading.
We have multiple sites with a few wireless users at each. We have 3702i WAPs connecting to a 2504 WLC. I have a site where the 2.4 spectrum is crowded and I want to move only that group of users off that spectrum to the locally under-utilized 5GHz spectrum. If that goes well, I'll continue with the other sites.
Thanks in advance!
Bob

As long as all your devices (all the majority of them) have 5Ghz support, and you have sufficient coverage, I would just globally turn off 2.4Ghz on the SSID.
I've gotten sick of 2.4Ghz issues, and we have started doing this increasingly more.
Sometimes there are only a few 2.4Ghz clients left and it is easier to talk to the client about replacing those old legacy devices so that everyone else in the company can get much better performance and stability.

Just adding to Philip Comment...
There is a feature on the WLAN SSID under the advanced tab called Band Select. You would need to set the WLAN radio policy to all. It doesn't mean all devices with 5ghz will use the 5ghz. It just makes the 5ghz look better, but the client device will make the final decision.
More info on Band Select: https://rscciew.wordpress.com/2014/10/26/cisco-band-select-feature/
If you want to force client to join only 5ghz then create another SSID and allow on 5ghz radios.

I've pretty much given up on Band Select. It is an attempt to work past the stupidity of driver writers. The stupid people won.

If you have 2.4GHz clients are less, you can turn off globally.
