No spare capacity - 4400

Hi,

Have a WLC 4400 series.

With only 49 accesspoints connected the controller report the following:

*spamReceiveTask: Aug 24 10:45:33.662: %LWAPP-3-DISC_AP_MGR_CAP: spam_lrad.c:4376 Ignoring discovery request from AP a4:4c:11:81:cb:bc - no AP manager found with spare capacity

The controller is telling me that there is no more room for another AP.

How is this possible when I have a licens for 100 AP`s?

Hi Stian,

note that with 4400 each AP-Manager interface supports up to 48 access poins to join.

So it seems you haveo only one AP manager interface. You can create another AP-Manager interface and that should resolve your issue.

Another solution would also be to enable LAG feature. This will need you only one AP-Manager to handle all APs so you don't need to create more than one AP-Manager interface.

Cisco 4402 Controllers have two Gigabit Ethernet distribution system ports, each of which is capable of managing up to 48 access points. However, we recommend no more than 25 access points per port due to bandwidth constraints. The 4402-25 and 4402-50 models allow a total of 25 or 50 access points to join the controller.
