One AP can change hostname while another cannot

Two same model AP 3502I need to change hostname by console before connecting to network. Based on the following commands, One AP can change hostname, while another one cannot change and get error message as below.

Anyone can give suggestion? Thank you

 

apdf.rerr.3r3c#capwap ap hostname AP3502

ERROR!!! Command is disabled.

 

 

 

 

AP#capwap ap ip address <IP address> <subnet mask>

AP#capwap ap ip default-gateway <IP-address>

AP#capwap ap controller ip address <IP-address>

AP#capwap ap hostname <name>

sounds like this AP was previous joined to another controller.  try to manually wipe the config on the AP by pressing the mode button on startup.  this should default the config on the AP.

Do you mean first AP need to wipe config or second one? thank you

wipe the config on the AP that is giving you the error message

i tried it, it cannot work. I had several AP added with static ip before. All of them refused to change hostname via console and gave error message. We have to change its hostname via WLC. But we only have this AP which can change hostname via console. Do not know why this AP is different with all other one.

Use the command "debug capwap console cli" first before entering the command to change the hostname. 

we had to do it. otherwise cannot type command
