Outdoor AP 1542 not powering on when connected to POE Switch 9200

Kindly advise how to troubleshoot Outdoor AP 1542 not powering on when connected to POE Switch 9200.

Switch output showing notconnect and no led

Is the AP damaged by outdoor environment or rain or AP port damaged by not handling with care.

Issue is cisco tac support expired and need to advise end user how to rectify or fix this AP by finding cause of not powering up.

@adeebtaqui hi, symptoms are like cable issue or AP dead. (because you are saying switch shows its not connected). try different cable for testing and try different power source to check AP (can be another PoE switch)

Please rate this and mark as solution/answer, if this resolved your issue
Good luck

Post the complete output to the command "sh power inline" and "sh version".

I have the same issue. The AP is connected on a IE3300 switch and it's not coming powering up. This is the power inline result. I tried to use a different switch and different ethernet cable, but getting the same result.

CDP is identifying the end device as "Ieee".  This means:

1.  The switch has disable CDP;

2.  End device has crashed.

See if there is traffic to the interface.  If the interface counters remain the same, then the AP has crashed.

I have enable CDP on the global configuration.

Here is the ports status

Gi1/1 notconnect trunk full 1000 1000BaseSX
Gi1/2 notconnect trunk full 1000 1000BaseSX
Gi1/3 connected trunk a-full a-1000 10/100/1000BaseTX
Gi1/4 notconnect 1 auto auto 10/100/1000BaseTX
Gi1/5 notconnect 1 auto auto 10/100/1000BaseTX
Gi1/6 notconnect 1 auto auto 10/100/1000BaseTX
Gi1/7 notconnect 1 auto auto 10/100/1000BaseTX
Gi1/8 notconnect 1 auto auto 10/100/1000BaseTX
Gi1/9 notconnect 1 auto auto 10/100/1000BaseTX
Gi1/10 notconnect 1 auto auto 10/100/1000BaseTX

Look at the output of "sh power inline" and "sh interface status" and compare the output.

How come ports 4 to 10 are "not connected" but "sh power inline" shows "something" is drawing power?

That's because the APs connected to port 4 to 10 have crashed (APs are in ROMMON).  That's why the ports are down/down but drawing PoE.

Thanks, is there away to recover them? I tried to console into them but they are not responding.

Do the most basic first:  Power off or shut the ports for about 10 seconds and enable them. Wait for about 4 minutes if the "Ieee" changes to the AP or not.  This may need to be done several times (yes!  SEVERAL TIMES).

Because the 1540 is actually a 2700/3700 inside, if the APs don't recover this way, console into the AP and check.  I know there are many bugs that would cause the AP to suddenly "corrupt" the IOS, like FN70330 - Cisco IOS Access Point Stranded Due to Flash Corruption Issue.

Thank you, I will try that.

Check if the PoE settings on the switch are correctly configured and ensure the switch provides enough power for the AP. Also, try using a different cable or port to rule out connection issues.

Do I need specific port configurations under the interfaces?
