Hello,
I have: Cisco AIR-AP1131AG-A-K9 (PowerPCElvis) processor (revision A0) with 24566K/8192K bytes of memory.
I currently have it PoE connected to my ASA5505 at home.
While I can successfully join and use my SSID, there are definite performance issues particularly when streaming content (YouTube, Netflix). These issues do not exist with my old Linksys WRT54G.
While troubleshooting, I shutdown the only radio I have running (A radio):
!
interface Dot11Radio1
no ip address
no ip route-cache
shutdown
!
encryption mode ciphers aes-ccm
!
ssid Godlike
!
dfs band 3 block
channel 5200
station-role root
bridge-group 1
bridge-group 1 subscriber-loop-control
bridge-group 1 block-unknown-source
no bridge-group 1 source-learning
no bridge-group 1 unicast-flooding
bridge-group 1 spanning-disabled
end
!
But I still get the following results when pinging from the AP to the directly connected ASA.
ap#ping x.x.x.250 size 1500 repeat 100
Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 100, 1500-byte ICMP Echos to x.x.x.250, timeout is 2 seconds:
..!!!!!!!..!!!!!!.!!!!!!!.!!!!!!!!!!.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.!!!!.!!!!!!.!!.!.
!.!!!!!..!!!!.!!!!!!!!.!!!!.!!
Success rate is 82 percent (82/100), round-trip min/avg/max = 1/1/2 ms
Any ideas on troubleshooting this? All interfaces have negotiated to 100/full
Thanks

Do you have a switch you can connect the AP to?

As in a Cisco switch? Hmm, I believe I have an old 3550 hiding somewhere...
What's the plan?

Yes a Cisco switch or any PoE switch unless you have an AC adapter.

Not sure I'm following.
I do not believe the 3550 has any PoE ports, but what is the difference if I am using a PoE off my ASA5505, or a switch?

You need to test it. The ports on the ASA really isn't for powering up devices and that could be why you are seeing what your seeing. The 2504 WLC is the same hardware and its not recommended to use those ports either. They started supporting that in later versions but still best practice to use a switch.
