Hi guys,

1. I need your help, I am gonna set SNMP TRAP on WLC Device, so we can see the status of devices on our NMS system

especially, if there is some change in configuration line, we want to receive an alarm, and we can check what has been changed.

2. what is the features of "config Save"

Cisco WLC ==> MANAGEMENT ==> Trap controls ==> General tab

detailed explanation will be welcomed. Thanks.

It’s basically what it states. If a configuration is saved either from the GUI or CLI, the wlc will send a trap to your snmp trap receiver. It’s up to you to build an alert off of the trap message.

Thanks for the reply,

but there is a difference, between saving config to flash and just applying some changed config line for a while,

if we try to save config to flash then snmp trap will be sent, but just applying some changes will not be affected

how can I apply both saving and applying, any advice will be welcomed

Thanks.

If you want command logging then you need to use TACACS with command authorization and accounting which you log on your TACACS server: https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/8-5/config-guide/b_cg85/aaa_administration.html#info-abt-tacacs and trap from there or using a third party tool on those logs.

The WLC’s don’t have a trap for apply, because you can not make a change and just keep hitting apply as an example. You would need to run a compliance check like from Prime or automate running a diff from a backup config.
