Protection from lightning

Hello,

We have an external Cisco access point and I can't locate the name of the adaptor you put between the external access point and internal switches to protect it from a lightning strike.  It's a small adaptor that will blow if hit by lightning but protects the internal network.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi,

You're looking for 'Lightning Arrestor'. Something like this. Make sure you get the right one for your AP connector (N / RP-TNC) and note they aren't infallible!

AJ - Generally speaking, a lightning arrestor is not going to protect your equipment in the event of a direct strike.  It will protect your equipment from a nearby strike, or from static discharges.  But a direct strike is going to fry everything in its path.  :)
