Hi all,
Can you please advise how to increase PSK ssid profile speed more than 74 Mbps. We are getting 150 Mbps speed in dot1x profile ssid.
Thanks

Kamlesh,
Just to add to Ric and Leo... when you look at what the OS shows you as far as the connection speed, the theoretical max throughput for a device would be half of that. TKIP and or just 802.11N devices would show max around 144Mbps on both 2.4ghz and 5ghz. 802.11ac however is only 5ghz and depending on the client, is and can be higher than 2.4ghz depending if your channel width is 40, 80 etc. 20mhz will show max around 144mbps again. So now we know the max theoretical basic, now depending on 2.4ghz vs 5ghz and channel utilization, then now you have to understand the modulation for each band. If the device connects to 2.4ghz and you see lower speeds on the OS, its due to what the device and AP negotiate at. This is what you need to look at when you compare your 802.1x and your PSK. Also look at what is different on the config for that wlan besides the layer 2 and layer 3 encryption.
Issue with roaming depends on how your environment is setup also and your config. Did you happen to upgrade and then had issues? Have you tried to delete the wifi profile on a device that has issues and manually create it again? Is your client setup to use both WPA and WPA2 as that can be an issue is you ever had this SSID setup a while ago. Look at the client NIC and driver version and possibly upgrade or downgrade to one that works in your environment.
Create a new test SSID and manually add that to some of the user whom complain and see if there is any difference. This test SSID should be left as default only change the vlan setting.
you have multiple issue it seems and you need to fix them one at a time. Roaming is a different issue than what you initially opened the thread so it seems like there might be other underlying issues also.

Hi Kamlenegi,
Are you using WPA2-AES for your PSK? You must use that to access higher speeds.
WPA1 / TKIP will limit you.
Thanks,

Hi Ric,
I will check WPA1/TKIP tomorrow onsite then let you know.
Thanks

It probably is but worth checking..
Are your two SSIDs running on the same frequency? As Leo has alluded to.. capabilities of the client and/or network come into play so you could be on 2.4GHz 20Mhz width SSID for one and 5GHz 40MHz width for the other which provide different possible speeds.

Hi Ric,
We don't have selected WPA1/TKIP, some time we face problem connection disconnection during roaming and need to connect ssid manually.
Is this problem of number of users increases.
Thanks.

Depends on the client. 150 Mbps tells me the wireless client's NIC card only supports 2x2:2.
Kindly provide the complete wireless LAN NIC and the version of the driver.

Hi Leo,
Same client machine is getting 150 Mbps from dot1x profile ssid. Is there any recommended setting in PSK to get high speed.
Thanks

Kamlesh - Did you confirm it is WPA2+AES Encryption as I suggested before?

Thanks Scott,
Can you please tell me how to restore WLC 5700 backup into WLC 5508, is there any conversion tool to restore backup.
Thanks
