Question about FlexConnect

I was reading this Cisco Document about FlexConnect Link and it says there are 2 FlexConnect Switching Modes.

  1. Local Switched
  2. Central Switched

my question is:

  • my understanding when I was studying for wireless is that FlexConnect is going to let the AP switch the traffic locally. Why in this document it says that we can have it centrally switched? and if I set my AP for FlexConnect, how can change the switching mode from Local to Central in WLC?

Thanks,

Local or central switching is defined on WLAN.

A flexconnect mode AP can advertise multiple SSIDs and the requirement may be to switch some SSID traffic locally and some SSID traffic centrally. Specially SSID on which you want to enforce centralized policy (Guest SSID can be a good candidate for this)

wlan>advanced>flexconnect local switching (uncheck)
