Hiya,

Just starting to setup a big Cisco network wireless and I'm intreasted in the Speed command. What does this actually do apart from preventing devices which BASIC is not specified for ??? If i limit the basic entries does this help the range ??? Otheriwse why dont i just set everything to basic ???

Thanks

Ed

A discret speed set to basic means: AP is allowed to send Broadcast and Management frames at this speed. Therefore, if a client is connected with 1 mbs and ap is set to 1-basic, the ap will send Broadcast and Management frames with 1 mbps (--> optimize range). If 1-basic is not set, ap is not allowed to send those frames at this speed (--> optimize throughput).

Hiya,

Thanks for that - i understand, but why dont I just enable all settings IE basic everything and also non basic verything

speed 1.0 2.0 5.5 etc and basic-1.0, basic-2.0 etc

Thanks
