Hi
i have two 1542 access point running 5ghz in mesh, i just want to find out what will be the max through put i would get between the Rap and Map. currently they only connect to each other via one 5ghz channel as that is the only option i see.
thanks

Hi,
Speed depends on multiple variables.
1. RF quality
2. Interference
3. Channel Utilization
etc.
I have seen slight change of weather also sometime causes issues. As you may be aware due to half duplex behavior of Wi-Fi, meshing it self will cause the speeds to be reduced. Best way would be to test it yourself in your environment due to multiple variables in play.
Recommended method of testing :-
Install iperf 3 in 2 devices. One device connect it to the Switch over the cable (not wireless) where the RAP is connected, other device connect it to the MAP over wireless. Now run the test's as required. Gradually increase the number of parallel streams, tcp window size etc. and note down the performance.
If you are looking for more simpler version you can use TamoSoft Throughput Test.
Important points for conducting speed test;
1. Use the latest drivers
2. Use high performance Laptop/PC device.
3. Wireless devices behave differently when in power and battery. So test both user cases.

Why not just test it out if you have the equipment? In the end, the max throughput will change due to link distance, interference, line of sight issues, etc. You can always look at the link speed between the MAP and RAP and divide that in half. That can at least get you to a theoretical max.
