removing known WLC's from lightweight AP

Hi All,

As we know, an AP stores its last known WLC's in its NVRAM.

Is there anyway to remove controllers from that list?

i know there is a CLI command to specify a controller - capwap ap controller ip address x.x.x.x - so i am hoping there is an alternative.

I dont want to have to write erase the AP...I am talking about almost 400 AP's here....in an health environment.

Any suggestions will be great.

If APs are managed by WLC, then it does not matter as all config push via WLC to AP (assume AP will get required controller IP via DHCP option/DNS or any other method than static config.

Since this information stored in NVRAM you have to erase NVRAM to clear this info from AP. Below 3 CLI lines will do it on a given AP.

debug capwap console cli
erase /all nvram:
reload

thanks mate,

when i erase the NVRAM will that lose the AP config relating to AP groups etc.?

Unfortunately yes,

since AP go back to default configuration any AP specific configurations done via WLC get lost
