Hi ,
I am currently designing a solution for a hotel WiFi installation . This is primarily to provide internet access to the Hotel's visitors .
I am asked to Rate Limit bandwidth on a per client basis - which i know can be done on the controller .
I have been also been asked to check if Data usage restrictions can be put into place per client .
For instance, they want 1Gb/2Gb usage restriction on their visitors , after which they should not be able to access the network without additional permission.
Is there someway to do this on a Cisco controller ?
Thanks ,
Rahul Nair.

This doco is handy for rate-limiting:
Also, Rasika explains TCP vs UDP very well in a blog post:

With regards to limiting total of data for a user; I do not believe this is possible with just a Cisco WLC. You would probably need some sort of third party tool.. I struggled to find much except this post from a while back which is probably still very relevant:

Just to add to Ric's comments, the limiting of data use is not something that a controller can do. Many companies would use a 3rd party software/appliance to achieve that which also would host the portal page.
