Hello:
We have an exisitng 15 Aironets 1542-E deployment using Cisco Mobility Express. We want to add some more APs, but the 1542-E are out of sale. We found the Catalyst 9120-E can be a good candidate. We also found in the Cisco web (https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/compatibility/matrix/compatibility-matrix.html#mobility_express_solution) that the 9120-E could be suitable for working with Mobility Express, but we can't find a specific Mobility Express image for this AP. It's possible that without changing the original AP image we can be able to add the 9120-E to the Mobility Express infrastructure? We don't want to change all the installation to EWC, whick I already know it would be the other posibility.
Thanks.

- If the ME controller supports the AP according to the compatibility matrix , then they will download the correct software from it but they must be in capwap mode.

- These devices can only use EWC , if intended to be used as a controller,

No, as I mentioned I want to mantain my actual Mobility Express setup. The new APs will work as clients, not masters.

- If being used as a capwap client AP , then the software on the ME controller must be recent, check : https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/compatibility/matrix/compatibility-matrix.html

Yes, the actual ME APs images support theses new APs as clients, but my question was if I need some kind of image in the new ones for this setup, or if they will work "out of the box" with the actual ME controller, without previously reimage them.
