I´m from Sweden and i have a 1km wireless link, it has been up for almost a year with Dlink stuff and two 15dbi directional antennas.
I use a dwl-900ap+ as a AP and i have used a dwl-520+ pci card in windows 2000 as a client,it has been rock solid.
I change the client card to a cisco pci352 and then the trouble began.
The troughput is alot higher with the cisco but the signal disappear in periods, and the client
utility says that my client card is "Not Associated" then it reconnects again!
The signal strength is about 50% and the signal quality about 95%.
When i used the Dlink the signal quality was 80% and signal quality 100, but maybe they measure the signal differently?
I have tryed to change the channels, i have turned off "Scan for a better access point",i have also turned off wep.
When i lock the data rate to a fixed speed it dosen´t connect at all, i must have it on auto then it works.
The symptoms i much higher under full load, it´s like the radio suddenly turns off a second or two and then on again!
Sometimes it can hold the connection for 10 to 15 minutes and some times only a minute.
I have the newest drivers and firmware, i hope someone can help me, i have tryed almost
everything with no luck!

Did you check the release notes for any compatability issues between the DLINK APs and the PCI card?

I have checked the release notes and i can´t see any
issues with the DLINK APs.
Another thing that are strange is when i go from channel 1 to 6.
Both the signal strength and quality is higher on channel 6 but
the throughput is 200kb/sek lower than on channel 1.
How can the throughput be higher on a channel with
about 10-15% lower signal levels and quality?
I have also seen some improvments on the connection drops when i lower
the DTIM interval on the AP, it´s better but not good.
I have checked the DLINK AP´s log and i can´t see
that the client has disconnect and reconnected, it´s
like it has been connected all the time, but it hasen´t?
I still get the "client adapter is not associated"
message and the signal disappear for a few seconds!
I have change the client card again to the dlink and
the link is stable but slower.
It must be a sulotion for this problem.
