Hi All,
I recently bought an AC (air conditioner. Not the WiFi 802.11 standard) which which can be connected the wifi and controlled using the provided app.
The problem is I will not connect to WiFi. Then I used my phone hotspot as a router and it connected.
So the AC is working as it should. But looks like it has some weird networking requirements which I can't get a hold of. I tried the manufacturer and they told me to buy another WiFi router.
Here is the manual if someone needs it. https://www.ambienceair.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/BRAEMAR-KSHV25-90D1S-WALL-SPLIT-WIFI-R32.pdf
The way it connects when using the hotspot is as follows
1. Download the ewpe app.
2. Tap on + to add new device.
3. On the AC, enable wifi discovery.
4. Select my Wifi SSID.
5. Enter the WiFi password.
6. Tap on Search and it will search for it. This step usually finds the AC in 30-45 seconds.
I am not sure how the search is done.
Let me know if someone require more specific info.
Thanks

Sorry for the delayed reply. I tried with an open WLAN but nothing changed. I also supported lower data rates e.g. 1Mbps

I agree with Scott and raise a TAC Case.
Is the SSID hidden?
If the a/c unit won't connect even with OPEN authentication then maybe the unit has a different "WiFi" standard. Maybe it's using Zigbee.

Hi Leo,
Thanks for the input. The reason I think it's something to do with my Cisco config and not the AC is that it will connect fine if I use an off the shelf basic home router.
Bye the way what is a TAC case? And how do I open it?
Regards

Most of these devices support lower minimum data rates, whats the minimum mandatory data rate configured, can you try decreasing it and test it again.

Hi, I have 1Mbps mandatory but connection is still not successful.
After a lot of research, I was able to force the AC unit to connect the network. The AC would show up under the clients list but no IP gets assigned. I do have DHCP. Afterwards I configured a static IP for it through the router which acts as the DHCP.
Also, in the clients page, under the Auth column, all my clients have the value Yes but the AC unit has No. I am not sure why that is.
I thought it might be authentication protocol. So I enabled both WPA and WPA2. But nothing happened.
The battle continues.
Regards,
