In your current setup, when an AP can't connect to the primary it will connect to the secondary and start download the code version on the controller then reboot. After this it will be useable by clients but if it then moves back to the primary it'll have to go through the same process again to download the version on the controller it's connected to.
Having the same version on both controllers reduces downtime.

Best is to have same version on both WLC with same modeltype
as mentioned above.....
1. otherwise APs will download the new code every time in case of primary or secondary WLC is down.
2. Client will reauth again.

1. Both units must be the same model of WLC and running the same version.
2. Stop using 8.0.100.0 or you'll regret it.

Even if you're not being affected by any of the bugs in 8.0.100.0, it's worth keeping your controllers reasonably up to date. The current recommended 8.0 release is 8.0.140.0 (http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/wireless/wireless-lan-controller-software/200046-TAC-Recommended-AireOS.html).

Can I know what is the bugs? ;)

Go to https://bst.cloudapps.cisco.com/bugsearch/ and enter the version number in the format 8.0(100.0) for 8.0.100.0. You can also look at the release notes but this is out of date as soon as it's published as new bugs will be found once the version of code starts being used.

First of all, I also suggest to you to upgrade to the latest 8.0 version, as many bugs were fixed. I even recommend you to upgrade to 8.2, if you plan on using the latest 802.11ac Wave2 access points.
In any case, in my experience, if you setup the HA function, the standby controller will automatically upgrade to the same version as the primary controller.
Also, once the HA is running, if you upgrade the software on your primary, it will automatically upgraded on your secondary too. This will cause a short outage on the wireless as both controllers reboot at the same time!
This information is for the 5508 and 5520 controllers, not sure if it's the same with the other models.
