I'll be installing 8-1200's across 4 floors... Can I use the same SSID on each access point or should they be different?

if you want user to roam from one ap to another ap , keep same ssid .
Normally I have seen unique ssid throught out whole wireless implementation
SSID is case sensitive and it is for loagical division .
After 12.0 we support 16 vlan and 16 ssid . So you can have 16 ssid define per AP and logically divide the users in different logical groups ....
if you are not using vlan I would say keep same ssid on each floor
