here's the topology

wlc 1 ----- switch (server room 1) ---------Layer 2 RP -----------  switch (server room 2) -------- wlc 2

i can access the other wlc via the redundancy management IP address

when you issue "show redundancy" or "show redundancy state" if you cannot see units are in SSO hot/standby status, then there is an issue with your setup.

I would go through below deployment guide and see if you have configured it correctly

hi there, i have tried removing the HA config on the secondary and put it back again, i reloaded the secondary unit as well. still it comes up as individual unit and does not pair up with the active unit, please see below mentioned outputs from secondary unit.

the secondary unit is connected to the second core switch, and i have also checked the RP port status , it is UP and also has the correct RP layer 2 vlan config . what is wrong ?

-  Review the 9800-L   (HA) configuration with the CLI command : show  tech wireless , have the output analyzed by  https://cway.cisco.com/tools/WirelessAnalyzer/  , please note do not use classical show tech-support (short version) , use the command denoted in green for Wireless Analyzer
