Hi,
We plan to switch our current outdated dect telephony to WIFI ip telephony with teams.
A site survey will be needed on every plant, and we will need to choose the correct antenna's for indour / outdoor coverage.
Has anyone experience with IP telephone over wifi with teams ? (replacing old dect)
Any tips or ideas are welcome.

How many clients we are talking about?

There are 7 sites and about 50 to 250 clients per site depending on the site.
The current ap's are Cisco 9120

Voice over wifi is challaning. even for a small project. Your project is huge. This is a project to have a dedicate engineer to plan starting with a kick off. If you are the client, get a very good partner and, of course, Cisco.

yes, we know, we will try a poc on a smaller site a use this as test case.

Most importantly get a proper site survey done.

@KrPA078 Switching from DECT to Wi-Fi IP telephony with Teams is a great move, but it requires careful planning. A site survey is crucial to assess Wi-Fi coverage and capacity in all areas, including high-density zones. You'll need proper access points and antennas tailored for indoor and outdoor environments to ensure seamless connectivity. Teams works well over Wi-Fi, but ensure your network supports QoS for voice traffic to avoid call quality issues. Also, test with Teams-certified devices for compatibility. It’s a challenging but rewarding upgrade if done right!

The most important factor in this plan is to get a proper site survey (aka wireless AP placement design) and the choice of the correct AP model. And the choice of the first generation of AX APs, 910x, 911x, 912x and 9130, is a bad choice. The reasons are: 910x, 911x, 912x are low quality cost models and Cisco is having a challenging time correctly programming the Broadcom chips driving them. And because of this, Cisco will be announcing the End-of-Sale/End-of-Life of 910x, 911x, 912x and 9130 in the eight months.
If cost is an important factor, Cisco will be announcing the "low cost" 9172/9174 in February 2025 during Cisco Live Amsterdam.
NOTE: The information I received about the 9172/9174 was disclosed to us sans NDA.
Next, MS Teams and wireless. The most efficient way to get MS Teams into a handheld wireless client is to get any Android-based or iPhone and load MS Teams. Aside from cost, this option is highly recommended because it is easy to manage the handsets without additional licensing costs.

Tips
Wireless survey / redesign to ensure coverage meets the VoWIFI requirements
QOS on both wireless and wifi need to be there, and also with the client to make sure it sends Teams traffic marked correctly as well
