the GUI of 9100 embedded WLC does not load in different browsers

Hello Experts, i had converted a 9120 ap into embedded 9800 WLC using https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/wireless/embedded-wireless-controller-on-catalyst-access-points/215303-embedded-wireless-controller-conversion.html  but after doing when i try to do https or http to the management IP it presents the login window, and i can login successfully but after that it tries to load the page and stops. when i try to refresh the page , still the same problem. i have also tried chrome and mozilla and the same problem exists.

tried another computer , still the same problem.

i am located in India and the wlc is in UK if that makes a difference.

Once you converted to EWC, WLC functionality within AP. So there is no dependency on where is your 9800 WLC.

What IOS-XE version are you using? I would suggest 17.3.2a if your software is not that

i had applied 17.4.01 initially , so you are saying that i should downgrade to 17.3.2a then ?

I am not sure whether 17.3.2a will fix your issue, however code train perspective, stay in 17.3.x would be advisable as it is an extended-release, so you will get maintenance updates like 17.3.3, 17.3.4, etc.

17.4.1 is a standard release and will not have any maintenance update on that code version, it is really if you looking for new features that are not available on 17.3.x

this is test lab setup for documentation purposes , so if i downgrade to 17.3.2a then i need to download the 9120 software bundle for it , right ?  i am attaching a screenshot for it.

and one last thing , i dont have any licenses purchased for it . so if evaluation licenses are not available in 17.3 train as you mentioned in my other post , then why should i do ?

You do not require a licence to purchase anyway. With 17.3.x there is an evaluation licence and it works once you activate it. Even eval licence expired, still, your EWC will work.

With 17.4.x Cisco trying to further streamline this process and not require activation of eval licences.

If you tried different browsers and possibly from different devices and you encounter the same problem, then worth downgrade & see if that fix your issue. Licencing part is a convenience measure and not impacting the functionality of EWC

- Try running browser in private/incognito mode

- The page is very slow to load first time - especially over slow connection so give it a few minutes at least.

I tried your suggestion and when using Google Chrome the login prompt appears and accepts the credentials but the page never fully loads.  Below is the console output from the Chrome performance log on a C9800 I have in lab.  Has anyone experience the login working but the page never fully loading?

That suggests files are missing are have wrong permissions set.  I would re-install software.

17.5.1 is out now - give that a try.
