Update/upgrade WLC Software Patch

1. Could someone please assist what's the best practice to update the software version / patch on WLC?

Currently I'm running 8.3.102.0 and would like to update patch 8.3.130.0

2. Would APs restart once the WLC is updated? The APs are in FlexConnect Mode.

3. What's the best practice for standalone WLC?

4. What if we have WLCs in standby mode?

Any suggestions/recommendations please?

I would recommending leveraging the forums for general questions and TAC for immediate issues. There are folks here in the forums with much more experience than myself and TAC is always good. That said, sure post back here or send me a message. I'm always happy to offer advice if I have any.

We'll be updating this weekend, I'll update how it goes.

We will be sticking to patch 8.3.133.0.

Does someone know how long would it take to update the patch?

Hi Guys,

We have successfully upgraded the software on WLCs in HA.

Everything went smoothly except a couple of APs which didn't join the controller after upgrade. We'll look into it.

Out of ~100 or so AP's we had 2 or 3 that needed to be power cycled after the upgrade. I had one that did a reboot loop for an hour, then just came up as if nothing was wrong. All in all, there were no real issues.
