Upgrade CISCO AP

Hello All

What is the best way to upgrade CISCO WLC AP's when i have no HA only one WLC ?

Note: read the release notes, check the compatibility with AP, version of upgrade you looking to go.

• Check https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/compatibility/matrix/compatibility-matrix.html to ensure WLC/ APs are compatible with planned software version
  • Also check things like Prime/ DNAC/ ISE versions are compatible with the WLC version
• Check you are planning TAC recommended software version: https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/wireless/wireless-lan-controller-software/200046-tac-recommended-aireos.html
• Dependant on the current software version version and AP models on you may want to run the WLAN Poller https://developer.cisco.com/docs/wireless-troubleshooting-tools/#!wlan-poller-wlan-poller/wlan-poller to ensure that you don't have any APs with flash issues (which will cause them to fail upgrade and get stuck until you manually console them to recover them)
• Plan a wireless outage window
• Use the pre-download software to APs
• Implement outage window which will reload the APs and WLC and they will all upgrade and re-join the WLC
• Check everything is working
