Hi There,

We have a 2504 WLC and 5 AIR-LAP1041N-A-K9 access points. Users complain that they lose internet connectivity randomly for a couple of minutes and connects back again.

The WLC has firmware 8.0.133.0. I'm going to upgrade it to 8.2.x.x and see if it makes any difference.

Hope you can shed some light Rasika.

Thank you in advance.

Sheheraz

1041, so this means the AP only has a single radio, 802.11b.

I've got a strange feeling the dropouts could be caused by co-channel interference.

Any chance that the APs and/or users are located near microwave ovens?

Hi Leo,

These have a,b,g,&n if i'm not mistaken. The users are not close to any microwave.

Thanks,

S

I completely disagree.

The AP has a single radio, 802.11b.  So how can the clients associate to an AP with 802.11a radio (802.11a/n protocol) if the AP will only support 802.11b (802.11b/g protocol)?

You'll need to do further investigation.

Provide the complete output to the following commands:

1.  sh sysinfo;

2.  sh ap auto-rf 802.11b <AP name>

Leo- you have me curious. Here's the AP- no? https://www.manualslib.com/manual/378104/Cisco-Air-Ap1041n-A-K9.html I've never used it, but it sure reads as dual-band.

Under Table 1, Part Numbers it states:

• AIR-LAP1042N-x-K9: Dual-band Controller-based 802.11a/g/n
• AIR-LAP1041N-x-K9: Single-band Controller-based 802.11g/n
• AIR-AP1042N-x-K9: Dual-band Standalone 802.11a/g/n
• AIR-AP1041N-x-K9: Single-band Standalone 802.11g/n

This is the final model that Cisco sells with single-band.  Starting from the 3500, all APs  are dual-band.

freaky. Is it me, or is their conflicting information afoot?
