Using a WGB to link to a CAPWAP AP (Back to Back)

Hi Guys,

I've got a solution which i need to extend to a mobile cabin that is approx 15M from the main site. Is it possible to setup a WGB through the WLC with an IOS AP in the cabin that is then connected back to back to a lightweight unit to mirror the site setup ?

OR, is it possible to use 2 IOS APs for the bridge link and then back to back the lightweight unit?

Cheers,

Nick

Hi Sandeep,

I've got those bits from previous deployments ;)

However, I can get the bridge established but for some reason, the AP plugged into the WGB does not want to join the WLC although I can both ping and see it in the DHCP options.

Basically, I want to connect a lightweight AP to the WGB in order to join the WGB and connect to the WLC.

Any ideas?

Cheers,

N

WGB is not showing in WLC client list ???

did you followed the post which i gave in my last reply?

Regards

Hi Sandeep,

The WGB is working fine. but the AP patched into it's ethernet port is not joining the WLC. I know connectivity is fine as the LWAPP AP can ping the WLC.

It's LWAPP > Wireless > WGB > Ethernet > LWAPP AP

Yeah I got ur topology now.

I think it will not work and never tried.

I had a feeling that may be the case. I think a switch in between may negate this but again, it would need to be lab'd.

NO,i think even switch will also not help in this case.

Bridging an LWAPP AP over IOS works!

I have this setup:

WLC>SWITCH>CAPWAP1>)))))(multiple VLANs)(((((WGB<SWITCH<CAPWAP2

The WBG associated just fine, the CAPWAP2 can ping the WLC, but wont associate, can this be done or is this a limitation due to the CAPWAP not support over the wireless link or something similar?
