Using LDPE version to upgrade a WLC 5508 ?

Dear experts,

I had a weird behaviour in a customer site.

I tried to upgrade to 8.3.133.0 with the standard version "AIR-CT5500-K9-8-3-133-0.aes" but I was stuck in "Writing new AP image bundle to flash disk" for a very long time ...

After 45 mn I decided to reboot, test again and still the same problem ...

The customer told me that we've to use the "AIR-CT5500-LDPE-K9-8-3-133-0.aes"and guess what ? It worked without any problem.

My question is in what case we should use this LDPE image ? and why ?

Thanks ,

A.

Hi @aleopoldie

I know very well the opposite situation. More then once I got WLC with LDPE and had to convert.

This is what Cisco Says:

"The LDPE image is used for Customers who are not legally allowed to use DTLS Data encryption within their regulatory domain (Russia-specific)."

The problem with your first install should be a Bug or something very specific but dont make sense install LDPE if you are not in Russia.

I also suspect a bug ...

If I meet this issue again, I will open a case to the TAC.
