I have user who is getting these error messages from the Cisco VPN client version 4.6. Does anyone know what the possible problems might be.

The VPN Client could not find the adapters GUID - Virtual Adapter's

tcpip GUID failed: 2.

2 17:13:30.617 08/03/05 Sev=Warning/3 CVPND/0xE340000D

The Client was unable to enable the Virtual Adapter because it could not

set the IP configuration into the registry.

what is the Operation system running on the device. If it is XP make sure that you have latest SP2 version on it. This is because there is a known issue with "ipsec over tcp " on XP which does not have SP2. Also you have to uninstall the Cisco VPN Client and then upgrade the OS to XP SP2 and then reinstall the Cisco VPN Client . This uninstall has to be done manually. The procedure to do the uninstall is given in the URL

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/secursw/ps2308/products_tech_note09186a0080094b7f.shtml#intro

Thanks for reply, the OS is Windows XP with SP2. It had SP2 installed on it before the installation of VPN software.

I am receiving similar error messages but am running Windows 2000. My connection log shows the following error messages:

Cisco Systems VPN Client Version 4.6.01.0019

Client Type(s): Windows, WinNT

Running on: 5.0.2195 Service Pack 4

The VPN Client could not find the adapters GUID - Virtual Adapter's tcpip GUID failed: 2.

The Client was unable to enable the Virtual Adapter because it could not set the IP configuration into the registry.

The virtual adapter failed to enable

Failed to active IPSec SA: Unable to enable Virtual Adapter (NavigatorQM:936)

Unexpected SW error occurred while processing Quick Mode negotiator:(Navigator:2202)

I think that the problem may lie with registry changes I made during a manual uninstall of a previous version while upgrading VPN 3000 (Version 4.6.01.0019). I erroneously followed instructions for manually uninstalling VPN 5000 instead of VPN 3000! Any help is much appreciated.
