We have a WLC 4402 with the latest image. We are trying to set up web authentication to enable guest laptops to go to the Internet. Laptops are able to obtain an IP address and they get associated with the AP, but we can not open the web page for authentication. Any idea?

Are you using default, custom or external web auth? If you use external web auth, make sure to configure the external web server in the preauthentication ACL.

We are using the Default.

I would verify that under your WLAN settings that under the Security -> Layer 3 tab you have 'Web Policy' + 'Authentication' selected.

Hi,
have you used the IP address 1.1.1.1 to open the web authentication page?, also you can check out the next documents for further information.

Upon resolving a DNS entry you will be re-directed to the 'virtual ip address' (default is 1.1.1.1). If you do not have DNS working then you will have to manually type in a IP address to simulate a DNS resolutions.
So if you don't have DNS working and google.ca wont resolve...try putting in 'http://64.233.161.104' or any IP address for that matter and if properly configured you should be sent to your web-authentication page.
