hi, can anyone please help advise what vlan will the client be put when the client connect to an SSID "test" and AP is in flexconnected mode. The ssid "test" is not in vlan mapping table of flexconnect, it is centrally switched.  Thanks in advance.

on wireless controller, the interfaces are configured as below.

1. interface name "BH", vlan id 999 , ip address is 99.99.99.99/32

2. under wlan config - ssid "test" use the interface "BH",

3, management interface ip is 10.10.10.1 /24, under vlan 10

Hello Herman2018,

Eventhough the ssid "test" is not in vlan mapping(manually), it mapped with default vlan which is vlan1.

Best regards

For centrally switched SSIDs, on the 9800 you need to define the WLC interface for the VLAN you wish the clients to be dropped into

Flexconnect Mode, central switched SSID will behave the same way as Local Mode in most respects.  There are some minor differences in the way association is handled only.

So in your case the client will be in VLAN 999 on the WLC.

@Gopinath_Pigili the SSID will not be in VLAN 1 of the AP because it is not locally switched!

it will be put into vlan 999, unless you are doing some dynamic vlan assigned through radius, in that case clients will be out into whatever dynamic vlan you assign it them as part of authorization policy.

-hope this helps-

thanks @Gopinath_Pigili for your advise!

@Gopinath_Pigili advice was wrong because the SSID is centrally switched!
The flex vlan mappings only apply to locally switched SSIDs.
