When locally configuring user on Cisco 3945K9 username keeps changing to uppercase?!

I have been trying to locally configure a username and password on a Cisco 3945K9 I am able to configure the username and password successfully...

username myusername secret 0 xxxxxxxxxx

but then if I perform a show run after I have done so, I get the following

username MYUSERNAME secret 5 $bnjsdf./$skokakoa.lk

So somehow the router is changing my username to uppercase?!

Anybody ever come across this strange issue before?

System image file is "flash0:c3900-universalk9-mz.SPA.153-3.M.bin"

Any help greatly appreciated!

yes it looks strange, does it effect you while you try to login username in lower cases? as only passwords are case sensitive.
