I found many apps for the iPhone and Android phones but I would like to avoid using a phone but does anyone know of any walkie talkie hardware units that use WiFi? This would be awesome to use on our campus when we are working on a project or issue.
Appreciate any replies.

walkie talkie uses Push to talk , PTT , half duplex communication with 27Mhz over ionsphere as wave guide, unlike Wireless communication which uses 2.4-5 Ghz fequency bands. In Walkie talkie , you don't need any externel transreceivers other than the inbuilt one ,available at the two users at each end. However, inorder to be wire free, the ipphones can be used over wireless. Wireless IP phones are already in use
