Windows Wireless Configuration

I'm sorry that this is not a Cisco specific question, but I know that with so many gurus out there, somebody will know the answer to this.

We are using Windows XP SP2 with WPA2 hotfix. Are using windows to configure the wireless rather than the Cisco ADU.

We prefer not to broadcast our SSID. I think it helps to keep out the riff-raff but understand this is not to ensure security.

Problem occurs when a user clicks on the "View Available Wireless Networks" applet and from this uses the "Disconnect" button. This sets the connection to a (Manual) state within the Windows Wireless Network properties. The only way to reconnect to the network is to delete and re-add the Network.

Without wanting to get into a discussion about the merits of broadcast SSID, has anybody seen a fix/workaround for this? Can this disconnect button be disabled by policy perhaps?

Many Thanks

LP

It all depends upon which adapter you are using on the Client.
