Wireless and download files

Good Morning

Actually I have some AP`s (1130) in my central office and other in remote office. I use a wireless device called Handheld (Motorola) to download an archive .cab but when I try to do this from server located to central office, it get to interrupt the connection for some reason. However in some remote office do not happen the same behavior. Routers in remote offices are connected throught ME and PPP connection. As a backup link I have an easy vpn connection. I did these tests and activities:

- I had to shut down interfaces (serial or ethernet) to flow traffic throught easy vpn. With this test I am sure that this type of traffic is not falling in default class.

-I upgraded WLC 5500 to 7.4.121.0 because I thought it was a bug in firmware 7.0.235.

-I reviewed bandwidth in WAN connection.

Did you happen this case in the past?

Regards

Hi Richard,

If you could provide us "show client detail output from your WLC for a device having this issue, we can see what data rate that device is connected & typical RSSI/SNR of it.

7.4.121.0 is a recommended version & good to see you with that code.

Hi Richard,

As you can see devices is having -78dBm RSSI which is not that strong, indicating device is far from the AP. It is connected 36Mbps at the given time on CH1.

Current Rate..................................... 36.0

Supported Rates.................................. 1.0,2.0,5.5,11.0,6.0,9.0,12.0,18.0,24.0,36.0,48.0,

Radio Signal Strength Indicator............ -78 dBm

Signal to Noise Ratio...................... 16 dB

Is it possible to do a test with the device is closer to a AP & see still problem occurs. Also I would suggest disable low data rates 1,2,5.5,6,9,11 on your WLC 802.11b/g/n & 802.11a/n bands. That should help improving the overall performance on your wireless.

Hi Rasika

I checked these values in my WLC and all of them are disabled, I referred support rates. By the way I did a test take my wireless device closer an AP and this has the same behavior.

Look at the show client detail and what is the RSSI value?  Test with a laptop on the same SSID and test file transfers or use iperf.

Thanks,

Scott

Hi Scott RSSI value is -78 dBm. I did this test with Iperf and got 20 Kbps. Regards

Richard,

You said that the other site(s) have no issues?  Are the APs from the other site(s) coming back to the same controller or to another controller?

Hi Leo All AP`s are registered in the same controller. This controller is located in central office.
