Are there any 'cheaper' wireless handsets out there? Cisco & Ascom are definitely not in that category. There has to be an economy model. TIA

Sure there are.
But the question is whether or not they can inter-operate.
I'm not talking about marketing. I'm talking about TECHNICAL.
My recommendation is for you get a few demo units and let it authenticate to your network and roam with it. You, and not the sales guy, has the last say whether these wireless handsets are going to work in your wireless network.
Another thing, if you do get the demo units, disbable the handset's 802.11n. I've seen this bug on the ASCOM and someone's posted a similar behaviour on the SIEMEN's one too.

I have thousands of phones on my network. You don't want to go cheap. Lack of support, updated drivers and quality will cost you more hassle than its worth .. You can look to get 7921s on the secondary market ..
